ARTFEST 2008 Spot is on YouTube!

If you have Time-Warner cable in the Dallas, you’ve probably already seen the ARTFEST 2008 spot running a various channels. You can also see it on YouTube! Take a look at it and rate it today! ARTFEST is also being featured on CNN Headline News on Time-Warner cable several times a day. This is just part of the great publicity we have been getting for this year’s event. Fred Gardner is ARTFEST Featured Artist

Fred Garner of Dallas is the ARFEST 2008 Featured Artist. Fred’s work is a combination of sketching, painting and woodwork. He was named “Best of Show” last year at City Arts and at the Lakewood Summer Arts Fair in both 2004 and 2005. In addition to his artwork, Fred is a founding member of The Afro American Players, Inc. They are the oldest Black theatre company in Texas, established on the campus at UT Austin during the Civil Rights Movement. Be sure to come to ARTFEST 2008 and view the work of this multitalented artist!

Patrick Heinzerling Joins The 500 Inc. Board

The 500 Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Patrick Heinzerling to our Board of Directors. Pat has been a volunteer at ARTFEST and Holiday Market. He also was the Event Director for Biers of the World in 2007. Pat is an accountant with Greyhound and we hope to make use of his special skills. About the 500 inc.

For more than three decades, The 500, Inc. has been raising vital financial, volunteer and training support for the Dallas Arts Community. Founded in 1965, the organization began when a group of 500 individuals pledged $10 each to raise money for the Dallas Civic Opera.From its initial goal of raising $5,000 for the Opera, The 500, Inc. has grown to be an important institution in the cultural landscape of Dallas.

The 500, Inc.’s mission now includes three cornerstones of activity: to raise money for the Arts, to serve the Arts with talent, time and services and to train, interest and educate its Members about the Arts.

Since its founding, The 500, Inc.’s mission has grown to support Dallas’ visual, theatrical and musical Arts. The organization has donated over $12 million to over 45 different arts organizations and countless volunteer hours to support our mission of a healthy Arts Community.
